Over 70,000 tonnes of pumpkins are grown in the UK each and every year and over 95% of these giant vegetables are destined to be decoratively carved. So how do you recycle all this waste? Pumpkins are technically food so your local council will have means to recycle them. But what if you wanted to make use of your waste?
Every bit of the pumpkin is recyclable… just remember to take your candle out of your jack-o-lantern first!
Try roasting the pumpkin seeds, then putting them on top of your breakfast for an autumnal twist.
Or, the pulp can be processed into a puree and used in sweet or savoury treats.
